Hey everyone, I have an interview in the next few days for peds residency, my first interview to be precise, and I just realized i don't know if i'm supposed to bring anything. I was planning on just showing up with my wallet i guess. Is that OK, or am I expected to bring CVs, 8x10 glossy pics, fruitcake? i'm clueless, sorry.

thanks for the help

hi, i think a frutcake is a good idea:hardy:

i am planning on bringing my CV printed out at kinkos on decent paper, and any research publication, abstract, etc. i mentioned. in attempt to get off topic, i am sneaking into my bag 10 fav pics of my trip to africa this fall.
our dean said to bring your pic, but what size? someone applying for derm said something about business cards?

there are some good threads on the general residency/eras forum about attire, and "ladies interview shoes" which was my favorite. some of us from cold places posted survival skills for those who are from the south and interviewing somewhere north and didnt know what to wear, etc.

wow i haven't even thought of this stuff...time to get on the ball

I heard that this is the way to go- print out a copy of all parts of your app that you can(cv, personal statement etc) If for some reason your interviewer doesn't have something and you can reach into your folder and hand it to them, it makes you look well prepared

Hmmm, I don't know about the fruitcake. But what about a nice apple pie. Bonus points if it's still warm. And extra bonus points if you have vanilla ice cream to go with it.

and a guaranteed high rank if the ice cream's not melted!:hardy:

anyway, this is a list that our school gives us and tells us to bring with us...some of it in my opinion is ridiculous (high school transcript tho??), but an idea nonetheless
1. Copy of the Universal Application (ERAS)
2. Curriculum Vitae (Copy the example in the"Medical Students Guide to Successful Residency...")
3. Letters of Recommendation (Try to obtain four that you have not waived your right to see)*
4. Transcripts: High School, College, Graduate Schools (if any), and Medical School
5. Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)/Dean's Letter
6. Board Scores (remember Board scores come on secure paper, so make photocopies)
7.*Passport photo of you (head and neck only).
8. Telephone contact numbers (many applicants obtain a cell phone during Match season)
9. Photocopies of*ALL of your diplomas.
10. Photocopy of your ECFMG Certification.
11. Copy of your passport.

come again?

dude are you kidding me? who has copies of transcripts, diplomas, letters (i don't think you're allowed to not waive your right to see your letters), dean's letter (also not available to us except for review)? This is why i put all that stuff if the application that i sent to these places, you know so i wouldn't have to bring copies to all my interviews. anyway, thanks for the advice--my school didnt tell us anything.

my interview is tomorrow and i'm not bringing anything (if they need copies or my picture they can turn around and look at my eras file).

That's nuts.

All I'm going to bring is my own personal CV, which has some things that I didn't include in my ERAS application. All the other stuff should be online for the school to access.....and I have no idea why they would need your passport.

like i said, some of it is ridiculous and i am not going to include that entire list (maybe not even half). the passport thing i think is for the non-US citizens, although again, ridiculous
