Hi everyone,

This post is kind of similar to DoctorKevin's, so I hope I don't get flamed, but my situation is this:

I have to wait until at least January, maybe as late as February or March, to know whether I've gotten into any of my top three choices. Right now I'm holding on to two acceptances that are kind of at the bottom of my list (don't get me wrong, they are great schools, but you have to make choices of one over the other). Anyhoo, I have interviews at BU and Tufts in December, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to go to them for several factors:
1) I've already been interviewed at three schools that I've absolutely loved, and still waiting for decisions
2) BU and Tufts are REALLY REALLY REALLY expensive schools ... I'm not sure I would be able to afford enrolling there
3) I have interviews at three more schools that I would rather go to over BU and Tufts (though of course, have no idea of my chances of getting in).

So, I'm waiting for decisions on three schools, waiting to go on interviews at three schools, and undecided about whether or not to go to BU and Tufts interviews. HELP! What should I do????

If you've got the money to go to the interviews, why not check out Tufts & Boston. You might like what you see. Also, although Tufts & Boston are the most expensive schools to attend, they may have decent financial aid packages.

Anyway, that's my opinion.

well the question becomes...

would you go to BU or Tufts over the acceptances that you have right now?

From how you call them at the "bottom" of your list I would suspect that you might go to BU or Tufts if you did get accepted there regardless of cost.

Now if you want to wait for your other decisions maybe you can postpone BU and Tufts...but I guess this is only viable if BU and Tufts were not rolling. And I do not know if they are or not. If they arent...schedule it later. If they are, then I guess you have to take on the extra airfare and interview there. At least you don't have to make the trip out there twice since they are relatively close to each other.

So basically its hard to make any decision until you have an acceptance to a school you know you would definitely go to over other schools offering you invites.

My first acceptance was MSU-CHM and I got invites to UVM, UIC, and Davis. However I am pulling my application/interview from UIC because I know I would not go there over MSU. But UVM intrigues me and Davis is one of my top choices so I am definitely going to those. So yeah. If i was confident I would get accepted by Davis, I wouldn't go to UVM either, but since nothing is a slam dunk I must keep my options open.

Hope this mumble helps.

i agree w/jlee. so if they really are at the bottom of your list...why spend the $$ on extra interviews (yes yes, i know the $ pales in comparison to tuition and the investment of bring a doctor and bla bla blah...but it's still $300-$500 per school at least...which in my eyes is no small change 🙂 ). i did the same and canceled several interviews/withdrew from schools i knew i wouldn't attend over my top choice. go with your gut instinct. you will likely get different opinions but i think the time and $ is better invested elsewhere. just my $.02...
