In ARDS which pneumocytes are destroyed? I, II, or both

In FA the pulm chapter under hemoglobin section it says that hemoglobin exhibits positive cooperativity and negative allostery. Shouldn't it be positive allostery?

The negative allostery is in regards to 2,3 bpg,
For ards, for adults its diffuse damage, but for neonates its mostly type 2.
