So I just started it and I'm very confused. How do I study my deck again without having the cards be all random? I like to use the cloze like 4 different times in a card for example, so I like the cards to be in order
Click deck, hit options on bottom, click the drop-down box next to "order" and select "Show new cards in order added".
Also, uncheck the "bury related cards.." option at the bottom of this tab and the "reviews" tab.. that's probably your problem. The whole point of Anki is spaced repetition.. so it doesn't want you to repeat the same card over and over in a row.. but you can tell it otherwise.
Definitely. I can study my cards whenever I want and at the pace I want and how I want.
Say you want to test yourself on a string of thoughts. You can make 3-4 continuous cards on Quizlet. On Anki, they will all be shuffled. Say you want to reference something. In anki that will take forever going trying to find it in your database.
I'm also a visual learner, so one thing that really works for me is to put images on the Quizlets. Sometimes I've been at a test and remember the image which facilitates my brain to remember the text related to that imagine. It's true that you may put images on anki, but it's a pain in the ass getting them at the proper sizes and orientation; and at least for me, without pictures, all the text becomes a blur.
Yea, Anki can do all of those things very easily actually.
You can easily study whenever you want and at the pace you want and how you want.. there's an option for literally every single thing
There's a setting where cards will be presented in the order they are made rather than shuffled.
You can use tags to easily and very quickly study a certain topic. (i.e. tag everything from a lecture, can come back whenever and study exclusively by that tag).
Image occlusion isn't hard at all on Anki. Using it in conjunction with powerpoint is probably easiest.
Anki is really powerful. It's a little intimating because it looks so bare but you can pretty much change anything you want and completely customize how you use it. Like quizlet, you can use it on pretty much any device as long as you have an internet connection initially to sync your deck.
But the biggest reason why you should use Anki is the reason why Anki even exists. Spaced repetition. Humongous, humongous help in studying.
