I am starting MSIV and doing my two Navy rotations in the next couple months and I haven't been to ODS yet. I've already resigned myself to the fact that I'll get yelled at along the way for not saluting the right person, etc. but could anyone point me in the right direction of some ground rules for that sort of thing? I already found info on how to wear the uniform, but any help would be greatly appreciated, especially since my first rotation will be with Marines, so I'd like to put a little effort into learning the rank structure for Navy and Marines. Any other tips would be awesome. Thanks.

You can buy the "Naval Officer's Guide" or some other similar referrence at www.amazon.com.

Saluting is not a big deal - just keep your head on a swivel and make a habit of constantly checking everyone's collar insignia. Black = enlisted (say hello/wait for them to salute first). Shiny = officer (salute first if their device looks different than yours).

When in doubt, make a point of looking the person in the eyes and greeting them.

Good luck.
