Hey guys i want to know what are great extra curriculas that i should look into, right now i have nothing special really.
I shadowed an orthodontist for around 250 hours
I was in a dental club, later became the head of the dental club for my college.
I am an editor for my schools science journal.
Thats basically it.
I would like to know what else there is that i can look into, i would like to become an EMT before i apply, but I'm not too sure i will have so much time to do that. (Also does that really even help so much for dental schools.)
Also, if i would apply with only these extra curriculars, coupled with a 3.6 gpa and a 3.7 sgpa, (haven't taken the DAT yet), is that a weak application?

Volunteer. You're extracurriculars are more than enough

Really? these extracurriculars are good enough?
Also by volunteering in what way?
Sorry for the silly questions, i just really want to be sure lol
Yes more than most of my peers and me as well. I was just in a prehealth group and had no research.

Volunteer in anything related to humans. At makeshift clinics, schools, tutoring, anything.

You can only put what you did, so don't sweat the extracurriculars much. Most schools will want to see any kind of volunteering (i.e. helping at homeless shelters, volunteering at a hospital, etc).

The only other thing is, did you do any shadowing of a general dentist? Most schools want to see some of your hours coming from a general dentist.

no i haven’t but i will definitely get on that.
Also i have another year to apply so is there anything i should really try and do they will separate me from others significantly. I want to really separate myself with extracurriculars because I’m going to have a light school load

Although I'm in the application process, so take my advice how you want. I would definitely recommend finding something to get into as soon as possible for volunteering. A local dental clinic would be great, or a homeless shelter, hospital, Boys and Girls club, really anything you can commit to long term that you can also enjoy doing.
Volunteering and community service shouldn't just be about getting a bunch of hours for an application to separate yourself from others. You should like doing it

Great! How do i go about the process of volunteering? Do i just go to my dental clinic and ask if i can volunteer? Also what exactly would would i be doing as a volunteer?

Email around. For clinics I'm not sure how it would work but there are sometimes trips abroad or to poor communities so look into that.

For clinics, usually they are based on the county's health department. So if find one in your area I'd call the general information phone number for the county health department and express your interest in volunteering and ask if you could be directed to whoever the coordinator is. If that gets you nowhere going in person could also work or directly calling the clinic if they have a phone number available. As a volunteer you'd usually be doing sterilization, room setup or break down, maybe some partial assisting. It just depends on whatever the clinic needs help with
