Help with formatting images for a journal

Is anyone here familiar with this imaging formatting stuff?
I need to submit images to a journal with these requirements. If anyone could help me out, it would be great. I can send you the images. Tried to contact our library staff but none of them are supposedly working.

-Scan or export high-quality original at 3,840 pixels wide (1,200 dpi at 3.2 inches wide)
-Grayscale images

I would look into Adobe products for reformatting your images, they are free currently due to Covid.

Solid idea. Downloaded a trial version of photoshop and think it worked. Thanks.
