The first half of your list is good except the Carolina state public schools which favor their own residents so remove those unless you have some strong connection to South Carolina. Your other schools are unrealistic except perhaps Tufts and Einstein. Add schools such as:
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Medical College Wisconsin
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
St. Louis
Creighton
Tulane
Quinnipiac
Albany
NYMC
Roseman ( new school accepting applications sometime this year)
Yes, delete the 2nd list except Tufts and Einstein. UMass is very competitive for state residents and accepts few OOS applicants. Even a state resident with a MCAT of 509 would have difficulty obtaining an acceptance.Okay, so delete the second list except for Tufts and Einstein? I know it's a bit out of reach, but I have family in CO and MA, so I may keep UC Denver and UMass. Thoughts?
Hey everyone! So here's the data:
cGPA: 3.829
sGPA: 3.75
MCAT: 128 C&P (87%), 124 CARS (49%), 129 Bio (92%), 128 SS (86%) = Total 509 (82%)
Research: 1.5 years undergraduate research + Starting 1 year NIH postbac now
Clinical: 500+ hours scribing
Community Service: 150+ hours
As you can see, everything looks pretty solid, except my CARS was pretty low. Another thing I do have going for me is that I have a great PS. I was diagnosed with cancer freshman year of college and went through a pretty tough struggle with that for 3 years. So my PS is pretty strong since I want to go into oncology.
I am a Maryland resident. Here are my proposed schools:
Maryland (#1)
Georgetown (#2)
GW (#3)
VCU
Virginia Tech
Eastern VA
Temple
Drexel
Penn State Hershey
Thomas Jefferson
WVU
Wake Forest
East Carolina
MUSC at Charleston
The rest are all even more of a reach...
UNC Chapel Hill
UMass
Tufts
Albert Einstein CoM
Brown
Washington
Oregon
Wisconsin
Minnesota
UColorado Denver
Let me know what you think! UMD, Georgetown, and GW are my 3 favorites! So information regarding those 3 especially would be appreciated! Thanks!
