So, by nature I am a realist but can border on the pessimistic side. Obviously not the best trait for an app cycle, but meh. Anyways I wanted some feedback on what to think about this. I interviewed like 3 weeks ago somewhere and the day after my interview sent out thank you emails to my interviewers as a show of gratitude more than anything else. Anyways after a couple weeks of silence I received an email back saying something along the lines of you will really enjoy it and do well if you choose to attend here. Now at this point technically it's not my choice yet. I was just wondering if I should take this as a foreshadowing of receiving an acceptance packet or if this is just a nice thing for the person to say to me? I don't know what to think. Any input would be appreciated.

A lot of interviewers phrase things like that (as in, assuming you will have the choice) just out of habit or to be optimistic/friendly. Probably doesn't mean anything unless it was from the admissions director.

Yea, I got an email from my interviewer saying "I have no doubt you will make a valuable addition to our SOM if you choose to attend" The guy also copied the dean on the email and told me he'd love to get me involved with his research if I went there. Then I got waitlisted lol

The interviewer may have loved you but they don't have the final say on acceptances unfortunately...

That's what I figured thanks for the responses.

I had an interviewer who said he hoped I chose to attend once I was accepted, and that he looked forward to working together come rotations. Waitlisted -.-

This doesn't mean anything and let it go, now.

Well, none of my interviewers every replied. Haha. I think he was just being nice. I doubt he even remembers you - and even if he does - the final choice to accept you or not is not in his hands.
