help with naming...

i know y the ethyl is before the methyl but which is carbon 1 and which is 2? and why?

here since you have no point of difference, need to name it based on
alphabetical order.So ethyl comes first.Thus u start with ethyl.
1-ethyl-2methycyclohexane​
 
The carbon which the methyl side chain is C-1. Name clockwise.
2-ethyl-1-methyl cyclohexane.

Nope clockwise and counterclockwise are the same thing, you can just turn the moleculearound and then what lol. When all numbers are the same we follow the alphabet with the carbon that has the lower alphabetical substituent on it getting naming precedence.
