Hi. Can anyone please help me with this problem from the DAT practice test.

A rectangular room is 2 meters wide, 4 meters long, and 2 meters high. How far is it from the northwest corner at the floor to the southwest corner at the ceiling?

I don't know which one is the northwest or southwest, but if the question is asking for the distance of the diagonal of a rectangular solid, then the formula is simply

Sq.root( length^2 + width^2 + height^2)

Which in this case is the square root of (2^2+4^2+2^2) = square root of 24

Thanks for the post. They have the answer being square root of 29.

I thought you would just use phythagrean theroem and do 2^2 + 4^2 = x^2, but apparently thats wrong.

You typed the question wrong... yeah to get root 29, one side of the room is 3meters, so i think you typed that wrong too

The answer should be sq rt of 24.

What Mr. Dental suggested is correct and you can derive that by going through pythagorean theorem twice.
