I am compiling my rank list and really liked the following programs in no particular order: Northwestern (Children's Memorial in Chicago), University of Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, and Rainbow Babies in Cleveland. I am interested in neonatology and a career in academics. I was curious if anybody had any words of wisdom on these programs.

These programs were similar for me - I liked them all for different reasons. I am biased because of the program I ended up at (one of the 4 you listed), but if you are looking for specifics, PM me what you liked/disliked and maybe I can give you some insight

If you are looking long term at neonatology and likely will stay at one of the 4 programs then you might want to go ahead and pay attention to the areas of interest for your potential research. All are enormous schools so there is likely to be someone doing something of interest for you. If you are just looking for a stepping stone to fellowship, then any of the 4 would be a good launching pad for fellowship (probably all equivalent). As for fellowship, I would say that depends on your area of interest, but I know fellows at all 4 schools and they all are happy with their choice
