Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on my school list and chances. Any help at all would be appreciated.
Just finished my junior year. Biology major with minors in Chemistry and Neuroscience.
AMCAS Calculated GPAs: cGPA = 3.74, sGPA = 3.71
MCAT = 509 (128/126/126/129)
Hawaii Resident, ORM (Asian)
Not HYPM
Clinical Experiences
• Volunteered: 150 hours. Responsibilities included obtaining medical histories from patients, taking BP measurements, transferring patients, helping to prep patients for procedures
• Shadowed: 90 hours over multiple specialities
• I am scheduled to volunteer/work at a hospital throughout this entire summer
Non-Clinical Experiences
• Volunteered 80 hours at a war veteran association (provided food and beverages, assisted veterans with basic needs)
• Volunteered 130 hours at my school's biology department. I worked during weekly office hours to help other undergraduates with any questions about scheduling, time management, and overall tips on how to be successful as a biology major
• I also volunteer with my school's student disability services to upload my notes for my classes. I have to generate my notes so that outside students can learn and understand it, as well as use it as their source of lecture information
Research (plan to continue throughout senior year)
• 1 year research; directed own pilot project
• 1 poster presentation of pilot project
Other ECs:
• I play basketball everyday and informally (no money involved) train friends and other interested individuals. I develop training regimes for each person and we work out together once or twice a week.
• I write poetry and make music purely as hobbies
• I'm a recipient of a partial academic scholarship to my college, along with the usual Dean's Lists, etc.
School List: Any additions / subtractions would be helpful. These are MD schools that I've seen floating around these forums, but I'm open to all school suggestions. I feel that I'm a slightly below average candidate so I'm looking at low-tier MD and DO schools. I'll probably apply to 1-2 reaches, but for the most part I want to be very efficient with my school choices.
JABSOM (*** TOP CHOICE***)
Creighton
Drexel
Oakland
Georgetown
Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine
New York Medical College
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added:

Rosalind Franklin

Medical College of Wisconsin
Penn State
Thomas Jefferson
Tulane
Let me know if I left anything out or if you need more information. Thanks again!
