Hoping for some input on my school list before apps go out on Friday. I applied late last cycle and it wasn't successful, so I'm giving it another shot.

- 3.78cGPA, 3.67sGPA
- 32O MCAT (10P, 12V, 10B)
- CO resident but have ties to the east coast
- Lots of non-clinical volunteering experience/ECs, including leadership positions (~300 hours)
- Clinical volunteering ~ 100 hours
- Shadowing ~ 50 hours (emergency department, radiology, cardiology)
- 2.5 years research including leadership position, no publications

I will be spending the next year volunteering/working in a nonprofit clinic through an AmeriCorps program.

School list:

Baylor
Duke
U of Pittsburgh
Vanderbilt
U of Colorado
U of Virginia
U of Iowa
St. Louis U
Wake Forest
U of Wisconsin
Georgetown
U of Maryland
MC Wisconsin
Loyola
U of Toledo
Temple
Tulane
Drexel
EVMS
Virginia Commonwealth

Any help is much appreciated! Are there schools I should remove or other ones I should consider adding (especially ones that look favorably upon AmeriCorps service)? Thanks!

I believe that U of Virginia, U of Maryland and U of Wisconsin are not very OOS-friendly. Unless you have ties to those schools, I would reconsider applying to them. I would add some more private schools on the east coast such as Albany, Hofstra, NYMC, and maybe Tufts of BU (more competitive). I would also look into Creighton, as they are big on non-clinical volunteering and take a lot of people from Colorado.

Awesome, thanks! Considering NYMC for sure. Anyone else have thoughts on other schools to add?

Baylor is a bit of a reach unless you are a Texas resident (which based on your list I'm assuming you aren't).

Duke is going to be a bit of a reach as well, but its ok to have a reach school.
