Hi everyone, I'm applying this cycle to allopathic schools and am looking for advice on where to apply! For what it's worth, I'm a reapplicant (applied last cycle), with a 31 MCAT (11 BS, 11 PS, 9 VR), 3.6 cGPA, 3.5 sGPA from an Ivy League university (major: biochemistry). I'm a California resident, with decent research, EC's, and volunteering. These are the schools I am thinking of applying to. Any advice on other schools that would be suitable for me? Thank you so much!! I really want to apply more carefully (broadly) this time and would ideally like to stay in warm climates.

1. University of Southern California

2. Loma Linda
3. Stanford
4. UC Davis
5. UC Irvine
6. UCLA
7. UCSD
8. UCSF
9. George Washington
10. Georgetown
11. Emory
12. University of Illinois-Chicago
13. Tufts
14. Tulane
15. Ohio State
16. University of Cincinnati
17. Oregon Health and Sciences University

18. University of Vermont
19. University of Massachusetts
20. Mayo Clinic
21. Boston University
22. Columbia University
23. Albert Einstein
24. Duke

19. I think you have to be a massachussetts res to apply there (could be wrong), but either way it's very OOS unfriendly if not impossible.

22/24. huge reach, but you probably know this?

1. Loma linda - are you comfortable with the lifestyle oath/whatever it is the students do there?

ps why are you a reapplicant? I am as well, slightly lower mcat, slightly higher GPA than you. ugh sucks right?

Hey 1289, thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah, reapplying definitely sucks. Does Loma Linda require applicants to be Seventh-Day Adventists?

You must have gone to high school in MA and CURRENTLY be a MA resident or have lived in MA for 5 consecutive years with proof of residence, taxes etc.

By far the most stringent residency requirements of any state. DO NOT apply if you aren't a MA resident...

i'm not sure about the exact Loma Linda requirements, I'd check out their website or maybe email them. All I know is that they have some very specific "lifestyle" oath or something like that, it is very very religious and specific. If it's in line with your beliefs I'd say go for it but it sounds like it could be a little suffocating if you're not a religious person.

I believe it's church every Sunday and no alcohol. It's like living with your mother again! 😱

Thanks gumbyj! Guess I won't be applying there.

I've come up with some other schools:
Albany
NY Medical College
Jefferson
Tufts
Drexel
Temple

Any thoughts as to whether these schools are worth applying to with my stats and California residency? Thanks in advance guys!
