So I'm trying to finalize my schools list, any input is appreciated:
Mass. resident attending a good private school in New England
3.6 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA, 512 (88th%) MCAT: 126/127/130/129.

EC's:
Research: ~600 hours in a bio research lab, 2nd author on a poster presentation.
~500 hours in clinical research, will be submitting a paper soon as first author, will be co-author on multiple future papers (2 being written atm). Not sure about the timeline for the other papers but hoping to submit mine within 6 weeks.

Clinical: ~1200-1300 hours of paid employment.

Shadowing: ~50 hours of shadowing, mostly OR.

Volunteer: ~25 hours in an underserved community (~2 hours/week for 3 months)
Leadership: Club president, other school-specific leadership positions.

- multiple strong LORs from Harvard & BU MS-associated MDs
- SES

Current Schools List:

UMass Medical
Tufts Medical
BU Medical
University of Vermont
Quinnipiac
Georgetown
George Washington U
Hofstra
W. Virginia University
Albany
Western Michigan University (I want to apply to at least 1 school in MI, but debating between WMU, Michigan State, and Central Michigan - thoughts?)4
University of Illinois (again debating here btw them, Chicago Medical School, & Rush University)
Drexel
Penn State
Thomas Jefferson U
U Miami (or University of Southern Florida- Morsani?)
Dartmouth
Brown

Thoughts on Tulane (LA), Rowan (NJ), Marshall University (WV), or Loyola (IL)?
debating between Columbia and Harvard as a super-reach school (I do have the LORs for Harvard, but nowhere near the stats).
I'm planing on 15-20 MDs, so I need to cut some out (and I'm very open to suggestions for schools to add!)

Considering UNECOM for DO, not sure where else to apply though.

You have a good list. In Michigan you could add Oakland Beaumont. In Illinois add Loyola and Rosalind Franklin. Miami is a better choice than any of the Florida state public schools since the public schools prefer their own residents. Forget about the reaches and add realistic schools such as Tulane, Temple, New York Medical, Creighton.
It would be a good idea to apply to a few DO schools. UNECOM, LECOM, PCOM, TOUROCOM and NYIT-COM are all close to you.

Do you have any recommendations for which schools to remove from the list? I'm trying to not go over 20 if possible.

For Michigan, stick with Western and OUWB, not Central or MSU. The latter two are heavy in state favored, whereas the first two are private. You can add DO's like CCOM, Touro NY, and PCOM with your MCAT if you'd like. I think U of I is a waste since you are not an Illinois resident, so I would scrap it. You can likely remove Brown and Dartmouth, you're not not-trad enough for those reaches. Georgetown gets a **** ton of apps, and so does CMS, so if you remove U of I, add one of the school's the above poster recommended.

UI seems to like OOS for the amazing tuition.

There are alot of URMs and CA residents in that accepted OOS pool though. They do have a giant class but it's still 90 OOS apps/matriculant which is around the NYMC GW type ratio. Not awful but you can come up with at least 25 better options

OP there are actually 3 MI schools that are worth a look: Wayne State, Western MI and Oakland.
If you stick with the Chicago schools RFU might be the best option. Your service doesnt meet the minimum threshold for screening at Rush.
I would go USF over Miami. Might as well add Medical College of Wisconsin, Creighton and Jefferson while you are at it. Give yourself your best chance at schools that either dont get many apps or have massive class sizes like Jefferson.
You dont really fit what Dartmouth or Brown is looking for and the stats arent there either.

Can you clarify how you know things like that? Is this published information that I'm just missing? What are Dartmouth and Brown looking for? How do you know the minimum service threshold for Rush?

1) Rush states in their rejection letter I believe the average matriculant has 800 service hours and 1800 clinical hours. They also tell people without 150 service hours they dont meet the minimum cut off per se in their rejection letter.
2) For Brown your stats are pretty below average. A sizable portion of their class comes from special programs. For those who dont, the majority who arent from special programs take 3+ years off(60 people did and very few people in their special programs will take 3+ years off many like their BS/MD program wont allow it). These applicants who get in taking 3+ years off accumulate tons of valuable and unique experiences. Their class profile can give you some good info

3) Same idea for Dartmouth ask yourself what makes you competitive. Stats are rather low, sGPA <10th percentile by a decent amount. The average MD matriculant age there from what I remember is 26-27(it's a school known to take a fair number of non trads) and it's a small class. Hence, it's not really going to be a realistic option unless you went to UG there or from that direct region maybe.
