For those who are familiar with the SUNY application, I have a question:

For the question Is your grade point average a fair assessment of your academic ability? If no, please explain

Throughout my undergrad, I did a lot of extracurriculars, volunteer and worked part-time. It may have reflected my grades a little bit, but Im not sure If i should mention it. I dont want it to make me sound like a weaker applicant. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey chrissystar,

I say if your GPA is at or above SUNY's average, you probably shouldn't mention it. That is unless you REALLY do not like your GPA. At my interview, they said they ask applicants to explain any bad grades (I'm guessing in the C range? they only asked me about my "W" which was easy to explain). So you will have time to explain anything that may be sub-par at your interview. Just thought I'd share my opinion! Good luck with the rest of the application process 😀

Hi vision34,

Thanks for your reply! Im at the SUNY average, but I'm personally not happy with my grades. lol. I have about high 70s. Throughout my undergrad, I did a lot of activities (part time job, volunteer) that may have impacted my grades slightly. But I dont want to sound like Im making up excuses..if u know what I mean.

Congrats on getting in btw!
