i will be a sophmore this year and i plan on taking the DAT next summer, the summer before my junior year. Can i start applying to schools after only 2 years of undergrad if i have my DAT scores? if not, how long are the DAT scores good for? hopefully i can take it next summer and start applying the summer after my junior year. Any info would be great.

Hope this helps:

So could I take the DAT next august and send in my app. after June first the follow summer (after my junior year)

you can totally apply for dental school with just two years of school, provided that you have completed most to all of the pre-reqs for dental school. You are allowed to have some missing pre-reqs, which you put on your application as work in progress. DAT scores are valid for 2-3 years, depending on which school you apply to.

One option you can do (if you want to shave a year off of college) is to apply for the 2011 cycle, which begins after June 1st next year, and then take you DATs that summer. I have only completed two years of school, and im applying this cycle. See my breakdown:

If you have any other questions, please feel free to pm me. Good luck!

This is exactly what i want to do. but my school is very libral arts so i have all of these useless classes I have to take so theres no way i could graduate early unless... I'm in a huge jam right now thou, i start classes in a week and i need to figure out what i can do. Me and my parents want to graduate a year early (money reasons) but if i take it next summer (after my soph year) i wont be able to take summer classes and it will mess up my schedule becuase i would have to change a class so i can take anatomy in the winter and physio in the spring and it would be impossible to graduate early. The only good news from this way would be i would have just finished all the classes needed for the DAT. If i wait till after my junior year to take the DAT i can take classes next summer to graduate early and i'll be able to keep my schedule this year from being messed up. I will also be able to take a full semseter of anatomy instead of a (3 week winter class) and then a physio and maybe ecology. the bad part i guess would be it would be 2 years since i took gen chem and 1 year since i took o chem. So i guess what i'm asking is how important is it to have the chem fresh in your mind and how important is it to take anatomy and physio?

Anatomy and Physiology are just a few questions on the DAT and G-Chem and O-chem are entire sections. So later down the road you are going to put in twice as much effort studying for this thing than if you would just take it while it is fresh...I have not had G-chem for 4-5 years and basic bio classes for 4-5. I recently had physio, neuroscience, histology, cell biology but there is alot more to study than just that. Sure it might help to have these but I seem to be struggling since I have not had the basics for so long.

alright thats what i wanted to know. So if i take the DAT next summer. but dont apply until after my senior year will that be okay?
