Evaluate [8^6 - 4^7]/ 2^14

I was following PEMDAS and did stuff in parenthesis (in this example it's brackets) but solutions said I did it wrong. They are saying to move the denominator to both things in the brackets individually. (i.e. (8^6/ 2^14) - (4^7/2^14)). So I'm thinking this is an error because stuff in parenthesis (or brackets since they're serving the same purpose) should be done first before dividing?

Sorry if this is an easy one, I just can't get my mind around it.

If your term in parenthesis is addition or subtraction and you're dividing it by something, you can separate out the terms (try it with simpler numbers - for example [8+4]/2 will always get you an answer of 6 whether you do the parenthesis part first or separate out terms and handle it as fractions).

Thanks, you guys got me re-evaluating why my answer was somehow different and I realize now that I tried to do 2^18 - 2^14 and that 2^4 was the answer. oops haha
