So I am reading the kaplan peds book and i get to the GI chapter and it says in bold face. extraintestinal manifestations are more common in Crohn's than UC.

I automitacly say bull**** in my head and have looked up in Robbin's path that says extraintestinal manifestations are more common with UC. The edition of Robbin's i have is a little old so i am thinking did something change in the last 2 years since i took path?

Also I thought that HLA-B27 is more associated with UC thus all the arthritic diseases.

I know Kaplan is wrong a lot of times but this is just so basic I am very surprised they got it wrong.

your comments are welcome.

totally agree with what u are saying. i read that also in kaplan notes, but its correctly written in FA. UC has the upper hand in extra-intestinal manifestations.

thanks for the confirmation. I am glad I didn't pay for them, kaplan is doing a crappy job and charging a whole lot of money.

You are right about the frequency of the extraintestinal manifestations , it's definite that they are seen more frequently in association with UC. I haven't started reading the Peds notes yet ( I also have the ones from Kaplan ). What do you suggest I should read ? Blueprints maybe? Something else? Or should I just stick with Kaplan?

i don't know i am sticking with kaplan just cause i have already read many of their other books.

I found a lot of errors in their step1 books as well. the material they have might be high yeild but they do a really crappy job at proof reading their books.
