Ok, Letters of Recommendation. i've always heard i would need 2 science letters and a non-science teacher's recommendation when applying to medical school.(next june) My school has a committee also though, so what does this mean, i get the letters of rec and then those go to the committee, or what? is this different at each school? I all ready have some profs lined up, but when do i really need my letters done by? When i send in secondaries? 🙁 Some info would be nice. thanks. 🙂

This is the process at my school:

1. Pay for Committee Letter Service
2. Talk to your letter-writers and have them send the letters to the committee
3. Have an interview with a committee member...this is so that they can write a cover letter for the packet that goes out to all of your schools

As far as the breakdown of science vs. non-science letters: It's good to have a mix...biased a little towards the science side (I would say about 6 total letters is about the max). Make sure that they really know you and your motivations. A letter written by somebody that really doesn't know you or doesn't really put any effort into the process can REALLY screw you over.

Hope this helps...
