This sounds HORRIBLE.mandatory class everyday from 8AM to 12PM
ThisI think Miami would be my choice. Their curriculum might be new but with Step 1 pass/fail, the one year curriculum is really the best option imo. I don't think it's significantly different in prestige than Einstein. The admin support is pretty important in a med school.
This was very helpful thank you!I participate in majority of these X vs. Y threads, and I'm always amazed that no matter the comparison, prestige is a factor.
There is legit no difference in the perceived "Prestige" of a school like Miami vs. Einstein. They're both solid upper-tier schools. What this really comes down to is whether you want to live in NYC "suburbs" at Einstein vs. in the city of Miami. You will be able to form connections at Einstein and do some light research with the other schools in the area, but at 45 mins each way ~ you probably won't be doing anything big. At Miami, you can do research with their surgical departments and consider using your breaks to try to squeeze in some NYC action.
I'd cut Hofstra off this list. If Miami total CoA is >50K less than Einstein go for it. If the costs are nearly equal, consider whether you want to spend your time in north east or if you want to spend your time in south. Prestige isn't a factor
Thanks for the tips! And I agree of course, but I was more referring to the fact that Einstein had never planned a revisit (before all this awfulness began), its not something they do although it seemed like a standard at other comparable institutions.Miami can easily get you to NYC for residency. Einstein= UMiami. Both are great programs. I prefer Einstein to Miami because NYC>Miami, but NYC isn't >$50K better. If there is a wide cost difference, Einstein is not worth it
In terms of virtual revisit...Einstein is one of the hardest hit covid areas. The school is closed down. It's unreasonable to expect the school to set up a virtual revisit when they have physicians and residents dying. Admissions staff is non-essential
