Hey all,

I am looking for some input to my situation:
I'm taking the MCATS in August, and my first three years of undergrad were really tough for me because, basically, I had to pay my way through school by working two jobs, and I had to transfer about 3 times (for reasons out of my control). The first school I attended I had to leave after freshman yr. b/c my financial situation changed, which led me to a semester at a community college, followed by a semester at a branch campus of the university I attend now (they said I needed 48 credits to get into the main campus... having at least a 3.0 at the branch and finishing those creds guaranteed admission). so, my first 3 years is a gpa of 2.97... I decided I wanted to go to med school, and upped it to between a 3.8 and a 4.0 my last 2 years of school... for a total gpa of 3.45.... Do i have a chance?! or are they going to see that i had a poor gpa the first 3 years? 😕

any *positive* input would be greatly appreciated.

Just keep it up. Your gpa is fine for getting accepted, especially with that trend.

not to worry..keep the trend....

my trend....3.1 -->3.32---->3.372--->3.54--->3.64---->>3.66

conclusion...accepted....just keep it up!! good job 🙂 🙂

Now you have a topic for those pesky adversity essays.

Thanks all,

I am a bit worried because I haven't taken the MCAT yet... what would you say the chances would be for someone will an (average? <30?) MCAT score and a gpa of like 3.4...? should i take the kaplan course (or others), and for those who have taken it, is it effective?
