Hello~
I have questions about med schools in Caribe.
I get the sense that coming from the Caribbean puts you at a big disadvantage when applying to residencies in U.S.?. What are the disadvantages of going to the Caribbean?
If you have any idea, please help....
I have plan to apply PONCE SOM and Central del Caribe.
Do you have any info about these schools?

Thank You for your help.

Hi,

You're basically in good shape if you want to apply for a residency anywhere East of the Mississippi (Texas is great on PR grads, I know its West of the river :) ) For anything west of there, you might have to do a little more networking, rotations, etc...just to get your name in the competitive bracket, otherwise, I have not seen any disadvantages in the PR grads as far as landing good spots on the East coast. Most programs pretty much see being bilingual as an advantage. The only real difficulties that my wife and I have had in Ponce and PR in general are quality of life issues...hope that helps.
