I just took the june PCAT and I thought it was hard, but I honestly will have no idea how I did until scores come in. The deadline to register for the august PCAT is July 10, and we won't find out our scores til after then. What should I do!! I wanted to apply to pharm school as early as possible bc of the rolling admissions since my gpa is not too high. Should i just register for the aug PCAT anyways or wait for my score and try october? Thanks! Any advice would help.

Play it safe and take the October PCAT. More than likely you will improve on your score regardless of what you got on this past PCAT, since you have been exposed to the test and know how challenging it may be. Most schools take your best scores anyhow, which will probably end up being the October test...if you take it. Unless you honestly feel that you scored in the 90+ composite percentile on this past test, I would retake it in October to be safe.

I believe you get your scores before the late registration deadline but you should find out for sure. You could prepare for August without registering now. If you like your scores, don't take the test again and you wasted some time getting to know the material better. That doesn't sound too bad. If you don't like your scores, you could pay the late registration fee and take it August. That way you will still have the benefit of getting your application in early for the rolling admissions schools. If the money is a problem, then you could always wait until October.

If you are satisfied with your score on June's test then that's fine, if not then I would suggest taking the October one. I think its better to give yourself at least 2 months to fully improve. The October one will give you plenty of time to study, where is the August pcat will already be here by the time you get your scores for June's pcat.

Study hard and do well, and plus most schools accept the October pcat, it would be a problem if you took the January one because a lot of schools have there deadline around that time.

Hey Berrisweet,

I'm in the same boat, just took the june pcat and know i will have to do a retake and debating between august and october. i was planning on just studying while waiting for my results and do a late registration as diastole mentioned. but on second thought, i may just spend the extra time to make sure i study enough and rely on the october exam. either way, i know my score will improve from june's test. i ended up cramming the kaplan book in 3 days :/ . So basically it comes down to if you really think applying early will greatly improve your chances of getting in, then pay the late fee and take it in august.

Hey guys thanks for the advice..I'll wait to see what my score is like and then decide from there, I wouldn't mind paying the late fee but it depends how I did and how much time i need. I guess I'd rather have a stronger score than apply super early =)
