Hey SDN

I took my DAT here are my scores.

PAT 18
QR 20
RC 18
BIO 19
GC 21
OC 24
TS 20
AA 20

As of yesterday my GPA was 3.4 and my science GPA was 3.7

I got back my grade for anatomy and Physiology and got a D+ (don't ask) and I want to know if I should worry at all. I just took my physicvs 2 final and know I'll be getting at least an A- or A (as per my professor), so my science GPA wouldn't be affected as much as i thought.


How does that D+ look/ what are the consequences?

Be honest, but not brutal please.

Anything below a B or B- isn't acceptable for pre-reqs so if you apply to any schools that require A&P you will need to repeat the course.

A D+ is bad, you may need to retake it but I don't think the majority of schools consider A&P a pre req. And dont listen to the fellow above me, you do not have to make a B on every pre req. You still have a good sGPA, below average cGPA, and above average DAT Score.

Thanks everyone for their answers.

I looked at the official guide to dental schools and no schools that I want to apply to require A+P, they just say bthe recommend it for dental school.

Would it affect my application in anyway or the admissions would overlook it and look at my 3.7 BCP (since as of now I'm not Bio major but hopefully will be) and see I excel at the chemistries and bio and physics?

Maybe you should go back and reread my statement.

I don't understand. He's right, you can get a C on pre-reqs and be fine. Hell, I think C- is the cut off for most schools for the core pre-reqs.

They don't accept even C-, only C and above...well, at least for all the schools I was looking at.

Your science gpa is good so U it shouldn't be a huge problem. Even though its not required for certain dental schools, most admission committees people are still gonna check out what you scored in an upper level science class. Doing well in a tough class like a&p is a good predictor that U can handle the pace of dental school courses.

What's done is done though. Be prepared to explain why you didnt do well in the class (ONLY if they ask U about it).
