Helpp me with verballll !!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
omg i just took the kaplan diag on verbal and only got 9 correct..how do i study for this...what do i buy ???

firstly. this question is too vague, and asking vague questions starting with "omg" and ending with three question marks usually signifies that the OP did not take the time to search the forums/conduct research before asking a question.😉

secondly, verbal ability and reading comprehension CANNOT be improved in a matter of only days. the skills required for these two sections usually requires years of reading to do well on. You can;t just read a book and expect to do well on verbal. Chances are, if you screwed up english on your SATs, you wont do well on the PCAT verbal either. focus on improving your science sections instead.😛

Lastly, the kaplan Diagnostic sucks and over prepares you. The questions are either too broad, too vague, or doesn't really match the actual types of questions on the PCAT. The only thing you can do now at this point is memorize roots of words to improve on your sentence completions and analogies. You only got 9 correct? I assume english is not your first language?😳

Hint: If you're taking the PCATs this august (21st), don't even bother improving verbal, you can't. not enough time.😉

Like the captain said, you cannot improve verbal in a few days. If you are taking the exm at a later time you can start by reading articles and looking up strange words...it helps. More online WSJ and newsweek, less FB. GRE words also help. There are lots of practice sites online.

Try majortests.com/gre It has an extensive vocabulary list and lots of practice. Also, freerice website. It's pretty good. Google it.

You can improve your verbal skills significantly by just studying. There IS hope for you, so don't worry. just MEMORIZE SAT vocabulary words and you will improve a lot! Keep reviewing them so that you can make sure they are sticking. You don't need to buy anything, just look up on google "top vocabulary words" or whatever and you will find a list of the most commonly use words. and seriously just MEMORIZE THEM. If you are taking the Aug 21st PCAT, you still have time to learn a few words, so don't delay it! You never know, the few words that you learn can show up on the exam. Just CRAM the words. You only needs to be able to recognize them, and not write fancy sentences with them.

For reading, it is a skill to be built. Just practice doing passages under timed conditions. You can use the passages from any standardized test. Practice your SPEED READING skills. Start preparing NOW. You can do it.

While I agree with most of your views, different students have different ways of learning/capabilities. Some students can improve big time through hardcore verbal studying, but a majority of students will NOT be able to significantly improve with just one month of studying.

You can go and memorize 600 GRE/SAT words and have only 2 show up on the exam or not remember any (personal experience). I say the best way would be to always read as a habit. When you have novels, books, w.e for many years, your vocab builds and you don't even notice it.

To the OP, not being a dick, im just being realistiic. Might as well focus your energies on the science sections. good luck.
next time, try doing some more research before posting a new thread with a vague question. It sounds like you are just asking. "omg i did bad on a test guys, what do I buy and what do I do?" 😴
