I will be a senior this coming year(Fall 2008), and I want to get into dental school by next year (Fall 2009). However, because I have no idea about the application deadline and DAT, so I haven't complete any of these stuff yet. I was wondering if I take the DAT and complete the application before the end of Dec, is it too late or should I wait for the next cycle?? By the way, can you guys give me some advises about the preparation procedures for applying dental school, please???? PS. why there's a PAT score? I thought we only need to send the DAT score?? Thank you so much!!! I really need your helps.

I think you need to do a little more research and slow this buggy down- we are in an era of motorized transportation. Is this a spur of the moment deal?

Have you shadowed?

Do you have letters of evaluation?

It isn't too late and all depends how well you know your stuff for that DAT.

Look up PAT.

Getting into dental school is a difficult thing to do on a whim and I sincerely hope that you are not considering doing this.

Do some research about the process, there are plenty of stickies on SDN that have been extremely helpful to me.

I'm not saying don't apply, but your chances will be greatly diminished if you apply in december. I'd save my money and apply next year if I were you... but that's just me. First round interviews AND acceptances are offered Dec 1. You would be taking a HUGE hit. Maybe you would be ok if you had a 3.7 or above and a 23 or so on your DAT... MAYBE! I'd just look into it more and take your time. Improve your chances and your choices. Good luck.

yah, i think I am a bit too rush right now. So, if I want to go to dental school in Fall 2010, I have to finish everything before July?? Where can I check the deadline for applications? by the way, what is SDN stands for?? Thank you for those who give me such a valuable advise. 🙂
