If pt. has Chronic Hep C.... does he get both hep A AND hep B vaccines??? Sttudying for Step III and came across a question that said only hep A 😕 Doesn't sound right, and I can't find a deffinative answer. Figured I'd get the answer from this forum. Thanks

I think you're right. In my experience we've always vaccinated Hep C pts against both A and B. I also double-checked in CMDT and it gives the same recommendation.

I believe Hep B vaccine is reserved for higher risk pts. If they are in a monoganous relationship, Hep B vaccine can be withheld. This was from a GI doc about 6 months ago.

Is there an increase in morbidity/mortality with vacc with hep B in Hep C patient? Thanks for your responses.
