When you see the depraved stupidity of your fellow preprofessional students (premed, predent, prewhatever) what's the first thought that runs through your head?

I ran into another predent here (bringing the count to 4 on our campus that I'm aware of) and the level of stupidity exhibited was astounding.....so I would just like to know what everyone thinks of people like this. I know some take the "eh, whatever approach", it pisses some people off, it makes some nearly homicidal, it makes some nearly suicidal, and the thought of these people treating patients just plain scares the hell out of some people.

Judging by your thread topic I assume the latest "dumb ass" you have encountered is me. So I suggest to you that you get off your high horse and come back down to earth. Also, many of your previous posts lead me to believe that you are quite unhappy and use SDN as a source to let off your steam.

To be quite honest, if you continue on this path you will be casted as a troll.

I am suggesting the minding-your-own-business approach. If you let yourself to be influenced so much by actions of someone that you call "stupid", you may never reach your own goals in life. The stupid ones will never make it through professional school, and those who lack common sense will eventually have to leave seeing patients b.c patients will stop going to them. bottom line, dont let little and unimportant things bug you down. the world is full of idiots and you know it by now.

I also heard that Dental school want people who care about the others. community service is not just for an admission. They want to see how much u can think of the people who r weaker than u, so acting like this at a dental forum is like u r going to be a bad dentist than those who have bad grade or ignorant.

I have yet to encounter a stupid pre-dental.. I have seen stupid and egoistic dentists though and I ask myself did they become like this while in dental or are naturally like this! One of the dentists that I shadowed for who graduated like 20 years ago told me then most of his classmates were stupid and some couldn't even write a simple essay and the girls in his class acted like they were in highschool. I wonder how much things has changed since then if any!

KHANSAHAAB, actually, no- the reason for this thread was someone on my campus, not on SDN. As far as you are concerned, I don't know you well enough to pass any real judgement.

If I had to pick someone on here to consider a bane of my existence, it would be a certain Canadian member (his screenname starts with an "S" and an "O") of this forum in mind. By and large, most of the people I have met on here are good people. It's just a few scattered idiots (just like in life) that make things interesting and I believe in not making life any easier for them.

Joon, you don't know me very well, and you need to watch deciding that I'll make a poor dentist because I hold people responsible for what they say and do (just like what you're doing to me). How many selfish or people on this forum have gone into burning buildings to get people out, dragged themselves out of bed to work car accidents in the middle of rain, snow and various other miserable conditions - let alone have done it without pay? I have for several years....I do it because I enjoy helping those who need help.

I am not speaking of turning away someone who needs medical care, or anything of that manner. I'm talking about giving the people who are our colleagues only the respect that is due them and quite frankly, there are a handful (maybe 5) people on SDN for whom I have absolutely no respect. The rest of you I have at least cursory respect for, if not some level of admiration. It is that the major drawback to the internet is that people can not see facial expressions, hear tone of voice or many times pick up on the sarcasm in a statement. I guess it's in some small part misunderstanding, combined in large part with my direct manner of addressing problems.

And Comet, you're right, I don't let it bother me. Sometimes I just enjoy making things difficult for the idiots. 🙂

oh, i know of one who never tied his shoes.... he said he was too lazy. he will start this year at BLANK dental school this fall. Somone i have no respect for (for many reasons).

I can tolerate ignorance, for it is simply that someone doesn't know any better- I'm ignorant of many things: Chinese, astrophysics, etc. Stupidity begins when you've been told, and either refuse or are incapable of learning that lesson.

And yes, this poll is rather *****ic- I'll give you all that. This is what I get for drinking and posting.

If thats the case then I am sincerely sorry for my previous post. However, I would still recommend having patience when dealing with ignorant/new pre dents. To be quite honest, I have also thought of your posts to be very thoughtful and informative which leads me to believe that you're a smart person; I would just use this gift (for lack of a better word) to enlighten others.
