Our path residents here gross on one day and sign out the next. So obviously, they wear scrubs on grossing days and decent clothes on sign-out days. So what happens in those places where residents gross and sign out on the same day? Do you have to bring a change of clothes? Can you just wear scrubs all day, every day 🙂 ?

And no, this will not be a major factor in my choice of residency... just curious! 😉

Scrubs the whole day, everyday.

Yes, I agree.

Some male residents (including myself) have done the path/rads ensemble of scrub top with dress pants/khakis occasionally. Scrub pants don't always have enough pockets for me.

hahaha

when I shadowed a pathologist, she grossed with dress clothes on...

...she was wearing a very thin apron, though...which still wasn't good because when she cut through an artery, blood squirted out on her!

as a practicing pathologist(female),
I never know from day to day if i may have to go to a meeting or conference. If I have to gross I try to make sure I have at least a scrub top in my office to wear. Then when need to go to conference I change to a blouse with my skirt or slacks.
I work in a community hospital so I do a bit of everything in a day.
If I have to go to OR for consults or do a post....I chnage in my office to either scrubs or a coverall.

Scrub a dub dub, three men in a tub (women?)

I where scrubs almost everyday. I look forward to wearing "real clothes" on rare non-gross rotations (we switch specialties weekly.)
