Hernia repair with mesh or without?

Hi! I am healthy 38 years old man. I have epigastric hernia about 2-3 sm. I want to get it repaired. One surgeon advise me to do it with mesh,and another one says it is better without mesh. What is your opinions and what is recurrence rate after surgery? Thanks.
