Thought it would be nice to be able to listen to medical podcasts on the go -- sort of like portable lectures, I guess. It would be handy for my morning commute, too. Anyone found any good ones out there?

There are a few podcasts I listen to:
NEJM This Week
Annals of Internal Medicine Podcast
Learn Internal Medicine by MedPod101.com

NEJM and Annals can be dry.
The MedPod101.com podcast is my favorite, and is probably best for MS-I/IIs. It's put together by a few medicine residents and has a nice mix of humor and teaching.

I like the MedPod101 also- it's really basic, but humorous and easy to listen to while driving.

Dr. Jeff Guy does really good podcasts, mostly on ICU topics. He's way more academic than the medpod guys, you can't really get by half listening to these.

if you have itunes, search for the USMLE reviews by someone named "mcmumbi." i think they are pretty useful.

I recently found QuackCast on itunes. The guy basically debunks different facets of CAM every week while cracking jokes here and there.

The Medkast! I download everything he does, his pronunciation is a little wierd, but useful stuff.

I 😍 him!

Albany Emergency Medicine Lecture Series
MedicinePod101
Listen to the Lancet
MUSC Neurological Health Podcast
Neurology (the journal) Podcast
OR-live
Surgery ICU Rounds Podcast
Survey of Pharmacology

Best, by far, is UTHSC Internal Medicine Residency Podcast. They tape every lecture they do for their interns/residents - very cool stuff. FYI, I'm a lowly pre-med and neuro researcher - so my choices are probably not as relevant as some would like.

help! I was at icurounds and I can't get them onto my ipod! I click on them and they just play in a new window. What the heck am I doing wrong? I can't save it or download it either!?

hellllllllllllllllllllllllllp!

Right click the direct download link and save as.

I also like the internal medicine lectures from UTHSC.

The Quackcast guy has another one on infectious disease, too, if you have any interest in ID: http://www.pusware.com/ or through iTunes. It's very snarky and entertaining.

Thanks!!

PS-here's a crazy tip, a friend of mine makes her own podcasts: she records herself reading notes and listens to it when she runs. It sounds rodunkulous, but she read somewhere that you are more likely to remember your own voice... 😛

a friend just directed me to the podcasts by Skeptoid. He's a scientist, and he does topical pieces, but aren't really going to be helpful for your tests or anything.

Goljan lectures all the way if you haven't taken step 1. I don't know how you'd get them... mine were just handed down.

Yep, everyone listens to his lectures. He helped my brother ace his boards 👍

I actually thought about doing this! Some of the stuff is presented in a way thats hard for me to understand/remember so I figured rather than making my own notes I'd just hook a mic up to my laptop and record it. That way I could listen to it at the gym, etc. I haven't tried it yet tho...

God, I'm so glad I'm not the only loser here. 😀

The look on my roommate's face when she saw my iPod's 'stem cell science' podcast was so full of disgust. I tried to show her the beauty of the Inner Life Of The Cell (yay video features on the nano!), and she just walked away without a word. 🙁
