im currently in my graduate school training and am thinking about applying to a hhmi med to grad initiative our school has that brings PhD students into the clinic for a month an a track that they choose (cardio, infectious disease, neuro, etc.)

wondering what the consenus is on such a program---in that this may be repetitive of what i will go thru 3rd year or maybe this is a great refresher/prompt for what i will see in the coming years..

it might be a bit intensive as well--ie, missing lab for a month or so to be in the clinic might not go over so well with the PI

thoughts?

the purpose of the program is to increase the number of "translational researchers." as an md-phd student, you may have the option of other less-structured avenues to obtain clinical experience.
