anyone in my situation? A higher AA (21) but lower pat score (17-18) What did u guys decide to do? Retake or just take your chances? I also want to mention I am a cali resident and would like to stay in-state.

in my opionion, i think you'll be fine. pat just doesn't seem as important to me. they don't have a perceptual section on the mcat, but doctors need to think 3-dimensionally (especially plastic surgeons). so why is there a pat section anyway? academic, on the other hand, covers the entire range of classes you took in college. it seems like this is more important. plus, the pat average is almost always lower than the aa average at most schools. don't retake it, go with what you have. hope your gpa is good, though...

Don't retake it. Do you know how excellent a 21AA is? Aditionally, a 17-18 PAT is not bad either. I had a 19 on the PAT with a 21AA and I am COMPLETELY satisfied.

well, My first choice schools are ucsf and Uop and they both have a 20/20 average. Even though my science GPA is around 3.5-3.6, my overall gpa is probaly closer to 3.0 due to early days of my college career. I just really want to give myself a good chance.

My score was just so unexpected, beacuse I didn't even think the PAT was that hard. I was just wondering if its worth risking lowering my AA to raise my PAT. I know I can do a lot better than a lousy 17!

Also, doesn't UOP look at the PAT as pretty closely?

Bro, you are obviouslly very intelligent to pull a 21 out of your ass😉 The PAT scores on SDN, on average, seem to be ranging from 16-19, and almost zero 20sare obtained w/ one or two exceptions. The PAT is nothing like the practice tests, period. You did great and you should be very proud. I truly think that a 17 PAT versus a 19 PAT is the same in adcoms eyes---but once you hit the 20s then it makes a potential difference. You have a great chance to get in. Just keep in touch with your top schools to keep your name in their minds, talk to the Deans and others at the top, and sell yourself full throttle. The 21 by itself sells you!
