I like to tell people that I'm in graduate school. If they ask what I'm studying, then sometimes I just say biology, which is true.

I also just say "grad school" when people ask me what I'm doing. If they ask what I'm studying in grad school, though, then I'll just say "medicine."

Throughout college, people I met always asked me what I majored in. When I told them biochemistry, they immediately asked me, "Are you premed?" That was so annoying. I usually replied that I had no idea, even though I knew I wanted to attend medical school. Premeds have this stereotype about them for being nerdy gunners that I just don't want to be associated with.

I totally agree with the sentiment that people talk to you differently once they realize you're premed. It's like you have some type of exotic disease. From now on, if people ask me what I'm studying, I should just say "Bad Boy for Life!" with the forefinger and middle finger raised in a V-formation. 😀
