The goal of this sticky is to serve as a repository of, and central location for the listing of high-quality CE and related activities.

SDN does not endorse any of the listed products; they are instead provided as-is and as a resource by members, for members (caveat emptor and what not). Also, while it is expected that many CE activities will have associated fees, SDN's policies regarding advertisements still apply; thus, please do not post regarding the sale of any services, materials, etc., particularly from which you may directly profit. If you're unsure whether a resource is appropriate to post, you can always message one of the forum moderators (myself and @futureapppsy2 ).

The moderators reserve the right to remove any posts they see as inappropriate or unfit, and members are encouraged to contact the moderators if they have concerns about any of the posted CE activities. Please keep posts in the actual thread related solely to listing CE resources.

Finally, if you would prefer that a moderator make a CE-related post on your behalf (e.g., to preserve anonymity), just let us know.

Just b/c they are APA approved does not mean they are scientific. Lots of APA approved stuff is pseudoscience, a money grab, or just straight up malarkey.

PESI, one of the largest CE companies is a prime example of that.

Yeah, I get PESI flyers touting brainspotting, body keeps the score, EMDR, and loads of other pseudoscience on a regular basis. Wish APA would do a better job of gatekeeping on these things.

I did not claim everything or anything in there was. Just passing along a link. Sheesh. I can remove it if you want. Weird flex..

I meant no offense. The purpose of this thread is "listing of high-quality CE and related activities."

You provided a list of APA approved CE sponsers. You could see how readers would then view that link as high-quality. I stated that not all (who knows if even a majority) of APA approved CE organizations are high-quality. Not meant to be a flex.

Stephanie Nelson, PhD, Skylight Neuropsychology, Seattle, will be presenting on Writing Brief, User Friendly Neuropsychology Reports. You wrestle every day with your reports. Your reports are thoughtful and eloquent, and they take you forever to write. They’re too long, too hard, and too complex. You worry that families don’t understand all the jargon and numbers. In this workshop, we’ll explore the research on effective communication. We’ll discuss ‘technical writing’ and learn how this style creates a profoundly better user experience. We’ll use metaphors, data, and exercises to dive deep into what makes a report readable and useful. We’ll challenge ourselves to connect with our readers and write a report geared to their needs. 1.5 Continuing Education credits will be available for this event for guests who register and are eligible. This will be a virtual webinar.

Anyone have suggestions for high-quality ethics CEs? My renewal data is fast-approaching. It can't all be reading on your own in my state. You actually have to see and interact with humans.

D&I Speaker Series | Mental Healthcare For All Lab

About the Series:

This year-long, virtual dissemination and implementation science speaker series, funded by the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science (APCS), is designed to strengthen dissemination and implementation science training across clinical psychological science training programs. Although trainees and faculty at APCS programs are especially encouraged to attend, all are welcome! Once the speaker series is over, we plan to disseminate what we’ve learned in a scientific publication and in the form of a community-friendly summary so others can implement cross-program training experiences like this one in the future.

How to Sign Up:

To receive speaker series updates and the registration links for each panel, please request to be added to our mailing list below via QR code or by emailing [email protected].

All registrants will receive recordings of the panels, so we encourage you to sign up for the mailing list and register even if you may not be able to attend the live events.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share an excellent training opportunity on working with Functional Neurological Disorders (FND). As FND becomes increasingly recognized in the psychological community, understanding the complexities of this diagnosis is essential for providing effective care.
This free, all-day training will be co-led by Dr. Crysta Weidner (UTSW Psychologist specializing in FND) and Dr. Chadrick Lane (UTSW Psychiatrist specializing in FND). This event is approved for 6.25 total CMEs, and psychologists, counselors, social workers, and LMFTs are able to submit their certificate for credit consideration to BHEC.
This is a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge in this area, and I encourage anyone with an interest in FND to attend! See information below along with accompanied flyer. Please pass along to trainees and anyone who may be interested.

Radically Open DBT for Disorders of Overcontrol
Friday, May 9, 2025
9:00AM - 10:30AM PDT

*A recording will be made available for those who can't attend live
Posting Title: Another chance to learn about RO-DBT!
Poster: Emily Owens
Posted: 04/08/2025 4:45PM (CT)

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) is an evidence-based framework informed by 20+ years of translational research designed specifically for overcontrolled coping (OC) and internalizing disorders, which can present as symptoms such as, overthinking, masking, rigidity, and emotional loneliness, and mental health disorders, such as refractory depression, chronic anxiety, restriction-based eating disorders, and obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Overcontrol and internalization are at times colloquially referred to as invisible or silent suffering, and consequently, those with this coping style may not seek out or receive care, which can be detrimental to overall health, or even life-threatening. The webinar will provide an overview of the development and structure of RO DBT treatment, including the primary treatment targets. Additional topics include radical openness, biosocial theory of maladaptive overcontrol, and social signaling as a key mechanism of change.

Abstract:

Previous research has found that knowledge of ethics codes, laws, and regulations does not necessarily ensure that psychologists will make ethical decisions. Ethical competency in practice requires a complex set of skills including critical thinking, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and the emotional strength to make difficult decisions. The current model of ethics training focuses on coursework and supervised clinical training, but after graduate school, psychologists must maintain ethical competency independently. Regulatory measures, such as licensing boards, credentialing, and continuing education, primarily serve as safeguards against unethical behavior rather than fostering excellence. Furthermore, our profession’s focus on individual responsibility for maintaining ethical competency leaves many practitioners feeling confused, isolated, and burnt out when faced with the day to day demands of clinical practice. In contrast, a communitarian approach to ethical competency emphasizes building communities of mental health professionals who can support and collaborate with each other towards common professional goals.

This interactive workshop will focus on developing strategies for creating a positive ethical culture within your clinical practice. It will utilize a combination of lecture, interactive exercises, and group discussion to facilitate a personalized and deep understanding of the material.

Presenter Biography:

Dr. Randy Fingerhut, Ph.D.
is a Professor of Psychology at La Salle University, where he teaches CBT and professional ethics within their doctoral program. His research interests include perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, ethical decision-making, and self-care for graduate students. In addition, Dr. Fingerhut is an adjunct faculty member at The Beck Institute. He is the co-author of the 4th edition of Practical Ethics for Psychologists: A Positive Approach, published by the American Psychological Association.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this workshop, the learner will be able to:

1. Describe the difference between remedial and positive approaches to ethics.
2. Identify principles and standards of the APA ethics code that relate to competency and self-care.
3. Assess the relative benefits of a communitarian versus an individual approach to maximizing ethical competency.
4. Describe the components of the competence constellation model.
5. Design a personalized plan for professional growth in ethical competency that focuses on self-care and developing a professional support network.
