Hey all I have recently ran into an issue with a class I have taken in high school at my local community college (it was a physics course and I got a D worth 7.5 units) and how it effects my GPA and sGPA. I have not applied yet so this is going to be a question to how much it will change my chances to getting into a school when I do apply. On my actual college transcript which I used to calculate my GPA's I have a 3.53 across the board. This did not include the cc grade. After going through my transcript again I noticed the cc grade... I saw that 5 of the 7.5 units got substituted into a physics class that I took and got an A. Now there is 2.5 units out there as a D in substituted in a physics class that I did not take at the University. The course they put those 2.5 units as is a 5 unit course. So after inputting this information in my cGPA went to a 3.49 sGPA 3.47. My MCAT information is 1 take 12/5/9 and my second take 9/7/10 double down on 26. So is there anything I should do? Retake the course at a cc? Retake MCAT? Just focus on extracurricular? Any advise or help is appreciated. Sorry for the length.

How many total units was the course in your university and the course at your cc (during high school)? I am finding this strange.

If you took a university level physics course and got an A after not doing well in CC physics course you took way back in high school, I don't believe adcoms will care. Also, almost every school I spoke to communicated blatantly that physics was the least important science course in their eyes. Your MCAT is also acceptable if you apply broadly. Same goes to your GPA. Good luck!

Those fractional points off of your GPA won't ultimately matter. If you took another entry level physics series and got better grades, adcoms will see those and likely look past your CC physics grade. Don't sweat it, you're fine. Apply broadly and you'll totally land a DO spot.

The course for the cc was 7.5 units. When I went to Uni the class I took was 5 units. So they plugged in 5 of the 7.5 units into the physics course. The 2.5 units still got a D and the Uni entered it as another physics course.

Thanks for the response! That is what I am hoping for.

Usually the AACOMAS only allows a course retake to replace a pervious course is if the retake either has the same credits or greater than the previous course. I am surprised they allowed you to replace those 5 units considering the university physics course is a lower unit amount. So I don't think you may be able to get the entire 7.5 units replaced (unless you can show that the university units are equivalent to the 7.5 units at the cc).

However, as the others have said, I don't think it is really a large problem.
