I haven't taken a math/physics course since high school and even back then I only took grade 11 physics. Would it be advantageous to enroll in an adult learning math/physics course over the summer or even buy textbooks/workbooks and go through them? I have to take a physics course as per pre reqs so I want to prepare myself... Suggestions? I'm coming from a non-science/math background.

I would make sure your algebra skills are solid. If it is, you should not have any issues with the math portion of general physics.

Your local community college is good for determining your readiness level, even if you don't end up taking classes there. They may administer placement exams for math and would have math classes to prepare you for physics.

You could also self study with a corsera self paced class.

Also, the book "Painless Algebra" is fantastic. Less than $10 on Amazon. Start that and then see where you are.

I'll take a look at the book you suggested. There is an adult learning center nearby that offers high school/CC level courses- i'm in Canada so we don't have formal "Community Colleges" like in the States. I just want to prepare myself for the pre reqs as I will be aiming to score high. Thanks for the suggestions

OK, well maybe the adult learning center might offer some diagnostic tests. The painless book really is good. And check out self-paced online Corsera classes if you don't want to take a formal class.

Ok I will check with the adult learning centre and Corsera. Compare the costs and programs and see which of the two would be more beneficial. Thanks!

I was kind of in the same boat (but with Chemistry) when I started my DIY post-bac. I used Khan academy and "The Great Courses Plus" to watch and absorb as much chem review as possible and I feel like it really helped me out. I would watch them on my phone whenever I wasn't doing anything, and even sometimes just listen to the audio in the car on my way to/from work.
