Hey Guys,

So I'm looking at my C.V. and transferring my activities from there to the experience section of ERAS and I have on my CV a volunteer experience from high school where I was the President of my large county's program called "Medical Explorer's". I was responsible for creating events for high school students in the group like shadowing physicians in different specialties, and helping in organizing trips to hospitals to watch CABG's, and alot of other medical related stuff.

I was wondering if I should include this on ERAS because I learned a lot from it and it was overall a great experience, even though the experience was from my senior year of high school in 2001.

Thanks ahead of time🙂

I think thats a bit of a stretch. While I see how its sort of applicable I think the general rule is to only include stuff from medical school and maybe full-time jobs/experiences done after college and before medical school.

I would definitely not put anything on from high school unless it was literally something along the lines of an Olympic medal. Drawing attention to accomplishments from 9 years ago draws attention away from more meaningful things you've accomplished recently.

I agree- unless you won a national science competition, etc., I wouldn't list anything earlier than college. "But I was valedictorian of my high school class!!!" And so were many of your med school classmates and fellow residency applicants.
