Hey,
I got a interview with a joint program at the med school.
What should I wear and anything specific I need to say?

People have told me to go in a polo and dress slacks but I don't know if that is a good idea.

my best friend is currently an M2 at a BS-MD program. i remember in HS that she bought a suit just for her interview. you might want to consider doing the same or at least going for something more formal than polo + trousers. good luck!

a suit would be good... sport coat and tie would be the minimum (and would work fine).

You can check the interview feedback to see if there is anything on your specific program. I honestly don't know if there is anything for BS/MD programs in there, but it couldn't hurt to look at the main program's interview feedback to get a feel for what the school values... just don't count on it being identical.

Just got an interview? Usually BS/MD programs give out interviews from December to March.

Make sure you get a sweet suit and look awesome from the neck down, and then get a Mike Tyson-esque tattoo on your face and shave your football number into the back of your head. It says "I'll follow the rules in my own way."

Suit and tie dude. This isn't like interviewing to be a partyboy at State U.

The kid is asking a valid question guys, we can give him an honest answer. Geesh - he is like 18, how is he supposed to know about the grown-up world?

TO answer the question, you need a suit. As a VERY young applicant, one of the things an adcom is going to look at very carefully is maturity. A suit shows that you know how to play the game of being an adult.

So what kind of suit?

Well - dark. Preferably dark navy, or even black. The shirt should be conservative (white, or powder blue) and the tie should be conservative as well (red, blue, or yellow with a simple pattern or stripes - no cartoon characters, or anything silly). Your shoes should be dress shoes, and should be polished. If you are wondering what your suit should look like, look at any politician. Yeah - they are ugly, but that is what your suit should look like.

You should also shave, and have a haircut. Take out any earrings or facial jewelry (including tongue rings).

There will be some clown coming behind me and saying "just be yourself, leave your earring in, don't give in to the man... blah blah blah" but I would argue that getting an acceptance is more important than expressing your individuality.

Good luck!
