I read in several places (especially Taus method) that this book is a gold standard for the Step 1. It is as important as knowing FA and Rapid Review.
I read through it over the past 2 days, but really thought a few of the chapters were useless. Maybe I am just unsure of it, but I'm thinking these sections arent really relevant for the USMLE Step 1:
Chapter 7 - Part III (pg 36-41): Structure of Transcription factors and Gene regulatory proteins (Homeodomain/Zinc Finger protein/Leucine Zipper Protein/Helix-loop helix)
Chapter 16 (pg 85-88) Homeotic Genes: HoxA/B/C/D
pg 56 - Polymorphisms (RFLPs, VNTRs)
I wasn't sure what these chapters were talking about at all..nor was I able to find them in First Aid.
Can anyone tell me if these topics are important?
