Hello everybody,

I have already got higher education in economics and also I am a flight dispatcher, but I would like to switch to veternary science. I have always been very interested in it and always read medical books. I want to study in Canada, but I am not sure where to go for it. Just had a look at the University of Guelph in the net. Is it possible to use the previous higher education as a credit or will it be necessary to study right from the very beginning? Are international students eligible for any kind of scholarship or refund when studying on undegrad programs? Perhaps, I could do some teaching assistance, as I have already graduated from the University? Any reply will be highly appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance!

I got from your post that you already have an undergraduate degree, just not one to do with veterinary medicine. Is this correct? If so, maybe one of the moderators could move this thread over to the pre-veterinary forum. (hSDN is for pre-college students.)

As far as Guelph, I don't know much about the Canadian system, but there are people on the pre-veterinary boards with more experience. I know they take international students from the US, but I'm not sure about other countries if you're living in a country other than the US. Also you may need to take extra undergraduate science classes if you don't have specific ones. Once again, I'm not sure what they require, since I didn't apply there.

Do you mean higher education as in DVM or MSc/PhD? I know Guelph has programs for both. If you email Donna Kramp or Penny Scott (their emails are on the Guelph Vet School website), they may be able to help you more with your questions, they generally answer emails pretty quickly.

Also, this board which is specific for Guelph DVM applicants is another place to look for more info: http://fvc.proboards38.com/index.cgi?board=admissions

Goodluck!
