Which of the following compounds consisently have the highest melting points?

a - dipoles
b- alkanes
c- molecular crystals
d- salts
e-metals

OK so i've ruled out alkanes, molecular crystals. The correct answer is D-salts but i don't know why?? i thought it would either be dipoles (which are polar) or metals but i dunno how salt is the answer!

salts contain ionic bond( the strongest)

Its salt because as the ebove person correctly said they are ionically bonded. Think of it like this, when was the last time youve seen or even heard of liquid table salt. It doesnt exist because ionic salts are near impossible to melt.
