Highest number of interviews without acceptance?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I had 3 interviews in january and one this week.. no acceptances yet. I don't beat you but I'm just as sad. 🙁

Are you two following up with the interviews?

thank you notes, phone call ~3-4 weeks after. the usual bit.

I wouldn't wait 3-4 weeks to send thank you notes. I would send them right away. Let them know you are serious about going to their school. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

I sent thank you notes the same night or morning after my interview. Called the schools once to check in...... 🙁

I have multiple acceptances, but if my (total interviews-total acceptances) is greater than your number of interviews, do I win? Or do my acceptances automatically disqualify me from this contest.

Maybe there can be a second thread for the person who is the most "fail" at interviewing, for which you can surely qualify. I think this thread is for the person who is the most fail at getting accepted post interview, which is slightly different.

😛

I have had 6 interviews, the first five of which have been no-go's.....thankfully my last interview, BU, interviewed me 12/15 and accepted me a couple days later.

If it were not for BU, I would be in the running for "biggest interview failure" I think.

the squeaky wheel doesn't always get the oil....sometimes it gets replaced

Ok, so who else has lots of interviews with no acceptances? Speak up you awkward people.

Lucky number 7 interviews woop woop

0 for 1 here, but I was wondering if there is a similar thread for, most secondaries without a rejection/interview just having your application collecting dust in some bin of possible somethings, or notify if not reviewed by June 1st bin?

Is it common to go an entire cycle without hearing anything. I plan to phone around soon to follow up on most of the schools that I have not heard from since October.

I had 7 interviews, & finally got in one of them today & that was my top choice...

so, Everyone, Hang in there.....

8 interviews...still waiting...

hey lotank,
i saw you interviewed at unlv on the 22nd. i did too have you heard backk? ive been put on hold 😕 and was wondering if thats just cause i interviewed only a few weeks ago..

I know this is off the main topic of this thread, but, about follow up phone calls.. Who do you call, and what do you say? Do you just call the admissions people and ask how it's going, or talk to someone on the admissions committee? I send thank-you letters, but I didn't even think of calling.

yeah, they told me that they hadn't made a decision on me yet.

Two years ago, I had 5 interviews: OHSU, Tufts, Creighton, Case, and UMKC...

I believe I was waitlisted at OHSU, Tufts, Creighton. Set as an alternate at Case, and outright rejected by UMKC.

thats crazy with your stats ... I feel like once you get the interview you should have a pretty good shot ... my fingers are crossed for you buddy

How did you stats change?

Lotank, it looks like we interviewed together at WesternU on Oct. 17th. Bummer that you haven't heard from anyone yet.

Did you really interview at ASDOH on Oct. 16th, and then WesternU a day later? If so, that is downright impressive.

I had 11 interviews. 9 Pre-Dec 1st

I got in to 1 after Dec 1st.

I am in, but 1/11 is pretty bad.... like $5000 in travel.

You guys should take interview courses/seminars. There's no reason why you shouldn't have been accepted to at least one if you've interviewed at four.

"always good to back up one's claims with data."....
sound familiar?

selling myself isn't the problem; its my bubble stats. but thanks for the advice, i'm sure we will all take it under serious consideration.
maybe you should go advise the 'under 3.0 club' to try harder?

There was a guy who was at interviewing in my group with his 10th one at Tufts. Now that is hurtin

6 interviews (4 were post dec 1) , 1 acceptance, 1 waitlist...that's pretty bad..

but then again, when ur asian, we are the majority, so we have to try 1000x harder to outshine everyone else..its true, some dental student friends of mine heard this from some ADCOMS

even with my pretty good stats. (u can look @ previous post)

4 interviews... waitlisted at Kentucky and Marquette ... still havnt heard back from Nova (Dec 3rd) and still waiting on Detroit Mercy (Jan 23rd) but that didnt go well because my interview just flat up told me my DAT was not competitive.

So I feel like a faliure even though kentucky I was just interviewing for a waitlist spot and Marquette was my only pre Dec 1st interview. But waiting is by far the worst part of this whole proccess especially when you dont have any acceptances. I agree with a previous post that I dont believe my interviewing skills are bad they might be better but I am very social person and its more my boarderline DAT scores.

I was under the impression that caucasian was the majority for DS? I am sure there's a post about this somewhere.

Edit: there is a post on this somewhere. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=563953 (Thanks, doc toothache.) In 2007 there was almost 2.5x the amount of white applicants as Asians.
