anyone know the highest osmolality of a liquid that can be given via peripheral line? I know that after a certain oSm the fluids have to be given via a central line, anyone know this 'magic' number?

gracias

sorry about the Ca...no idea

anyways...about my original post...

i guess the max on peripheral lines is 900 oSm. Some say 800. however, i was reading this study on pubmed where theyve used up to 1200 oSM and said its ok, as long as you are using the line for <5 days.

go figure...but i guess the norm is 800-900
