highest usmle score?

The highest step 1 score I have ever seen is 267. Just curious if anyone knows of anyone who scored >270 on the test. According to the score report, there are scores that high but I have never seen one.

My roommate scored 272. Pretty mind-boggling, but I bet someone else out there has scored higher. Isn't that how the world works?

A friend of mine who goes to Ross told me (about a year ago) that the highest Step 1 score was currently held by a Ross graduate. I think the guy scored in the 99th percentile. Amazing i tell ya.

DOCTORSAIB•••••Well, by definition, the highest score would be 99th percentile. However, I'm pretty sure that more than one person receives a score in the 99th percentile with every test administration.

Ask what that guy's raw (3-digit) score was.

2 close friends of mine ripped the boards a new one- they both rocked 99th percentiles on the step 1. it's not common, but it happens 🙂

A 99 (2 digit score) does not necessarily equate to 99th percentile. You got to look at the 3 digit score to figure it out cause they don't tell you. If you consider the SD and the mean, then you will figure that to be in the 99th percentile, you will need to score at least a 260 (approx). I don't understand why people still don't get it.

The two-digit score on the USMLE score report is NOT a %-ile rank. In fact, the NBME stopped reporting %-ile rank scores with the class of 2003's admin of Step 1.

The two-digit score that is reported is directly derived from the 3-digit score. To pass, your 3-digit must equal or exceed 182 and the 2-digit equivalent is 75...it has to with the language w/i several state and residency programs regarding passing scores on the medical liscensing exams.

So, if your friends actually got a 99 on the 2-digit score, while excellent...it really is not a %-ile ranking score.

Now the COMLEX reports your raw score, pass/fail & a %-ile rank.

Actually, I would bet that it happens every time the test is given. I would just hate to be the guy who got the 1%ile!

i guess i don't understand what you are trying to say. i am in the class of 2002 and there was NO reporting of our percentile score on step I or step II.
