hijab means cultural diversity. during an interview, if you're asked "by accepting you to X medical school, what is something unique that you will contribute?" you can reply by say cultural diversity and then expanding on it.

What about a burka?

So what's the difference between a "hijab" (some kind of ladies' headgear, I presume) and a turban, burka, etc.?

A hijab is the covering of a women's head with a garment.

A burqa is not just the head, but the face, toes, mouth, etc.

A turban is headgear for men that extends down below their waists.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. So if a turban goes all the way to the waist, what's the wound up hat that just sits on their head called (like the Genie in Aladdin)?

Well the turban doesn't have to go down to the waist, just in desert climates it typically does. The Genie had his fully wound up.

And the thing that Aladin has on his head is a fez.
