Can you describe a patient you witnessed while observing and not violate HIPAA??

Without thinking about it, I realized I described a patient's condition I met while observing. (Described general age, gender, his condition, and what setting I was in.) I DID NOT mention his name, name of clinic, or any really discerning information.

Much apologies SDN.

Can I get in trouble for this? Do I need to tell the admissions to Shred the essay ASAP??

So confused!!! :scared:

There was a similar question to this asked not too long ago. You have nothing to worry about, don't sweat it.

Wow, I spoke about and experience with a patient too in my essay. I didn't even think about the hippa. Glad Josh said it was cool!

as long as you do not put their name, location and any other personal information that would inform me of knowing exactly who that person is, which you didn't, then you are ok!
