I am interested in learning more about the history of psychiatry residency training. I was wondering if members know of any books or articles that discuss how this area of the field has changed over the decades? Questions that I am interested in furthering my understanding include:
1. curriculum structure regarding emphasis on psychotherapy and the various branches of psychotherapy (CBT, Psychodynamic, etc)
2. Changes in structure of intern year, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year. Have the number of blocks in various areas remained constant?
3. Fluctuations in number of psychiatry residency positions
4. Fluctuations in competitiveness
5. Growth of fellowships
